Curve Appeal
By far the most unique and challenging project we have done to date. A 50ft fully opening ‘accordion’ door opens the living room completely to the ocean. The tight tolerances required for the door and the large spans created some design and engineering challenges for Kettle River. The ultimate solution was an 8ft x 14ft curved laminated beam, reinforced with a curved steel beam. All the posts were locally sourced peeled cedar logs, including the impressive 3ft diameter centre log. Seamlessly fitting the square edged Douglas fir timberwork with the organic log works challenged and inspired the Kettle River crew.
